"My name is David Aston and I am one of the Community governors at High Ercall School. I have been a governor at the school now for many years. I live in the village and have seen both my children go through the school they both have very happy memories of their time there. My wife Jennifer is now a school TA, starting work some 20 plus years ago as a nursery assistant at the school.
During my time as governor I have helped with the many alterations carried out on the school and I am very proud of the school today."

My family and I came to the area when I became Farm Manager at Tern Farm, Longdon on Tern in 1995. My two children, then 5 and 9, benefited from their years at High Ercall and I wanted to give something back. As a result I have been a Governor for over 15 years. It is a privilege and a pleasure to be associated with such dedicated staff and enthusiastic pupils.

"I am the Deputy Headteacher, and I teach Class 4."

I am the Deputy Headteacher, and I teach Class 4.I have been teaching at the school for ten years, and during this time, I have seen the school flourish in the areas of curriculum offer, academic achievement and infrastructure. Before joining the school, I had taught in two larger primary schools in central Telford and had been an engineer before joining the teaching profession. I had never stayed longer than six years in any previous post and it is testament to the ethos and environment of the school that I embark upon my eleventh year.

I am married and have two teenage daughters who keep me busy: ‘Dad’s Taxi’ to and from drama and singing lessons. I enjoy cycling and motorcycling (passing my test in 2015) and have supported local and national ‘ride outs’ to raise funds for a variety of charities.

"I am a Senior Electrical Engineer with a Business Diploma in Operational Management, I have worked within the Dairy industry for nearly 32 years, 26 within the community at Dairy Crest Crudgington prior to joining Muller UK at Telford.

I believe High Ercall School to be an asset to the community with successful learning and development policies within a safe and supporting environment, these have been confirmed with my daughter Sara’s enthusiasm for school. My view is that a proactive approach to our children’s education and development is key, therefore I find it a privilege to support the school as a parent governor by offering my professional skills, knowledge and experience as required."

I started my role as Headteacher in September 2013. Previously I have worked as Deputy Headteacher at Hollinswood Primary, in Telford and several years in schools in Shrewsbury. I have taught all year groups across the primary age range through my teaching career, and love to see the children excited and motivated by the learning.

I am married, with two primary aged children, who attend a local primary school. I grew up locally, near Market Drayton and love the rural lifestyle! Occasionally you might see me running the lanes locally or around my own home, or even playing tennis!

I came to High Ercall Primary School in January 2015 when I was appointed as Nursery Teacher. In January 2016 I moved into Class 1 and am very happily settled in this role. I have taught mainly early years since I started teaching in 1989, but I have also worked as a family learning tutor and for children’s centres as a support worker. I also stayed at home for a time to bring up my children and worked as a volunteer for the National Childbirth Trust.

I have three children, one who lives and works in London, one who is a student at university and the other is at 6th form college. I live in Shrewsbury, and love spending my free time seeing films and live music, reading and working on my garden. I am looking forward to becoming a governor and representing the staff at meetings.

Hi, I’m Steve Armstrong and I’ve been a governor for several years. I started off as a Parent Governor when both my sons, now teenagers, attended High Ercall .

They really enjoyed their time here, making a lot of good friends and enjoyed representing the school whenever and wherever they could.

The school gave them the foundation to try lots of different things, a number of which they have developed a real passion for.

I really enjoy the challenges and rewards of being a governor and feel privileged to be able to make a contribution to school life.

I am married with 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren. I have lived in High Ercall for 30 years and consider myself an active member of the local community. In addition to my role as governor, I have been a parish councillor for 20 years. I am a bell ringer at St Michael and All Angels Church.

All our children attended High Ercall Primary School.  As a parent, I  have extremely fond memories of the school.  The school gave my own children a firm base to go on and achieve well, in their various academic and professional careers.

I joined the governing board nearly 20 years ago.  Recently, I have taken on the role of governor with safeguarding responsibilities. I have several years’experience of working in children safeguarding teams.

 Rev Suzan Williams

Appointment: April 2016

Suzan W.jpg

I am Team Vicar in Wrockwardine Deanery in Lichfield Diocese and live in The Vicarage here at High Ercall.

I am married to Darren and we have four children and two grandchildren.

Being involved in the local primary schools has been a very important part of what we are seeking to do. Not only to support the Staff and head teacher, but also to get to know the families in the locality as well and find out what they need. At a time when there is so much pressure on families, I think its a really important role that the local Church needs to be proactive in developing.
